Buddy- sweet little bundle of energy, who has already doubled his weight in the 2 weeks we have had him and seems to be settling well into our family already...just a pity Beau (our 2 yr old Queen cat) doesn't feel the same way -any tips for harmonious living?

Despite his lack of focus, by eldest son, who is ten, is a creative wee soul - he often needs a bit of coaxing to do something, but when he does manage to actually finish a project, I think he nails it!
Take this cross stitch on a box canvas.....
He sat last Sunday afternoon when it was just the two of us in the house- in front of the stove. He began by diligently charting his design on squared paper, punching holes into the canvas, painting the canvas yellow and then stitching the design with some black wool - I'm bias obviously, but I thinks its amazing!

Enjoying the instant gratification of a sewing project - an hour or two in the afternoon and you're done! Sewing skills still very dicey - couldn't for the life of me figure out how to neatly insert the ears so ended up zig-zagging them to top (very badly I might add).

Aaaaarrrrhhhhhhh! How can it be possible that I am 38? Well, today it's an actual fact.....But I have had the most lovely day - kids are off school due to teacher training day and Mr Northern hi-light too, so I have been thoroughly spoilt.
Lunch was the fish board and a glass of Prosecco at one of my favourite local eateries...
Awww, and look.... its amazing the bargaining power you have on your birthday! A spot of sweet talking resulted in a trip to our local SSPCA centre and a soon to be new addition to our little family - Buddy, who is 8 weeks old and the cutest little kitty ever.....OK, so being 38 has its benefits...The crazy cat lady lives on......

I wiped the dust off my sewing machine today and sewed myself a big owl. I love owls, and heavily inspired by Jane's over at 'teawagontales', I decided to try my own inexpert hand at sewing one.
I found the stuffing bit the hardest, particularly the ears, and I have to admit the sewing is a bit dodgy, but he looks grand perched in our living-room. I am thinking a giant fox next...
